SpendConsole brings together 30+ finance leaders, for the first ever “AI in Finance” executive forum in Karachi

Karachi, Pakistan — 11 August 2026: SpendConsole hosted an executive forum, “AI in Finance” at the Pearl Continental Hotel in Karachi, bringing together CFOs, CIOs, finance directors, controllers, and shared services and technology leaders from across Pakistan’s enterprise sector.

The programme opened with an industry perspective on how AI is applied to accounts payable: invoice capture, tax validation and compliance, native SAP integration, and automated exception handling.

Discussion centred on the operational load finance teams still carry in the region, manual invoice processing, paper-based audits, supporting document management, and multiple invoice formats arriving across several channels, all of which add manual effort to month-end close and audit preparation.

Tapal Tea and Wafi Energy, both SpendConsole customers, presented their AI adoption journeys, sharing their implementation experience with SpendConsole’s payables orchestration platform and ERP integration, and the outcomes achieved since go-live. Both accounts described moving invoice processing and PO matching from manual, paper-based routines to structured digital workflows, and the practical steps involved in rolling AI-based automation out across their finance teams.

A live demonstration followed, led by SpendConsole Founder and CEO Abid Ali, showing the platform’s Connect, Capture, Resolve, Settle, and Insights modules.

The forum closed with an executive panel moderated by Haseef Ahmed, Managing Partner, MENAP at SpendConsole. Panelists included Ijlal Jafri, Group Chief Information Officer at Martin Dow; Azhar Nawaz, Chief Digital & Information Officer at FFC; M. Aamir Jameel, General Manager Information Technology at Tapal Tea; and Razi Rahman, Head of Information Technology at Wafi Energy Pakistan.

The panel discussed how finance and IT leadership are sequencing AI adoption across payables, from tax validation and PO matching to the internal controls and audit-ready workflows needed to make automation stand up to scrutiny, and where AI still requires human review before an invoice is approved for payment.

The forum is part of SpendConsole’s ongoing engagement with finance and technology leaders across Pakistan and the wider MENAP region.
